Sarah Bas Tovim

Sarah Bas Tovim was a Ukrainian Jewish author who made significant contributions to Jewish literature. Her most notable work is Shloshe Shearim, a Yiddish-language prayer booklet that became the most widely circulated of the tkhines, a collection of devotional texts intended primarily for Jewish women. This publication highlights her importance in creating spiritual resources for women in the Jewish community.

In addition to Shloshe Shearim, another work by Sarah Bas Tovim has survived, titled Sheker ha-kheyn. Although details about her life are limited, her writings have endured, and scholars such as Dovid Katz have referenced her work, referring to her as Sora bas Toyvim. Through her contributions to the tkhines, Sarah Bas Tovim has left a lasting legacy in Jewish literary and spiritual traditions, particularly in the realm of women's devotional practices.
