Sid Melton

Sid Melton was an American actor born in 1917, whose career in film and television spanned nearly six decades. He is best known for his roles in several popular sitcoms, including his portrayal of Alf Monroe, the incompetent carpenter, in the CBS sitcom Green Acres. Additionally, Melton played notable characters in The Danny Thomas Show and its spin-offs, such as Ichabod 'Ikky' Mudd and Uncle Charlie Halper, the proprietor of the Copa Club.

Melton's extensive filmography includes appearances in approximately 140 film and television projects. Some of his most notable film roles were in Lost Continent, The Steel Helmet, The Lemon Drop Kid, and Lady Sings The Blues, alongside prominent actors such as Cesar Romero, Gene Evans, Bob Hope, Diana Ross, and Billy Dee Williams. He also made recurring appearances on The Danny Thomas Show and Green Acres, and later appeared in flashback episodes of The Golden Girls as Salvadore Petrillo, the husband of Sophia Petrillo and father of Dorothy Zbornak. Melton passed away in 2011, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances in film and television.
