Guez's tenure in Sousse lasted from 1906 to 1928, during which he established himself as a respected figure in the local Jewish community.

Guez's most notable role was as the Grand Rabbi of Tunisia, a position he assumed in 1928 upon his relocation to Tunis. He served in this capacity until his death in 1934, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Tunisian Jewish community. Throughout his career, Guez was also known by alternative names, including Youssef Guez and Youssef el Guidj, reflecting the diverse cultural and linguistic influences present in Tunisia at the time.
