Yehuda Yannay

American classical composer

Yehuda Yannay is a renowned American classical composer, born in Timișoara, Romania. His early life took a significant turn when he emigrated to Israel in 1951, where he pursued his musical education at the prestigious Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv. This marked the beginning of his formal training in music, which would later become the foundation of his successful career as a composer.

Yannay's academic pursuits continued in the United States, where he attended Brandeis University, the Tanglewood Music Center, and the University of Illinois. His extensive educational background ultimately led him to become a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He held this position until his retirement, after which he was bestowed the title of emeritus professor of music, a testament to his dedication and contributions to the field of music.
